By joining our Employer Network, you can host a Mastercard Foundation Associate for 12 months, while the Mastercard Foundation covers a part of the associate’s salary.

The Mastercard Foundation Associates Program is a 12-month professional development and placement programme designed for young professionals aged 18–35 with 0–2 years of work experience.


These young professionals are called Associates.


Associates go through a rigorous selection and training process before being matched with employers in roles aligned with their skills and career interests.


Employers partner with us across a wide range of industries, providing Associates with meaningful work experience while benefiting from motivated, trained talent.


The programme runs in phases. Following the successful completion of Phase 1, we are set to commence Phase 2, expanding participation across multiple African countries.


Phase 2 will include Employers and Associates from:

Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and The Gambia.

We are calling on employers from all industries across 5 African countries - Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra-Leone and Gambia - to host associates for 12 months as part of their enrolment in the Mastercard Foundation Associates Program.

Must be a legally registered business.

Must have been in existence and active operation for at least 3 years.

Your vacant job roles must be entry levels (0-2 years of experience).

You are expected to have some form of benefits for the Associates placed in your organisation (bear part of the stipend cost, other monetary or non monetary benefits, Take on a PWD/IDP, Transition some Associates into full-time after the program).

Must have a structured workplace reporting structure, and adequate supervision for Associates, with the capacity to give them quality work experience.

You should be able to provide necessary work tools to enable the associates to carry out the assigned roles e.g. laptops, safety gears, other work equipment and working tools.

What benefits are employers expected to provide or contribute to an Associate?

Contributing a percentage of the Associate’s stipend (Co-funding), Covering health insurance, Pension, retaining the Associate after one year, and prioritizing inclusion by hiring IDPs/PWDs.

How many Associates can organizations recruit?

An employer can hire up to 10% of their total staff strength. (e.g An employer with 50 Associates can hire up to 5 Associates).

What minimum criteria is required for an employer to host an Associate in the programme?

Employers must be legally registered, operationally stable, and able to provide necessary work tools (e.g., laptops). You will also need to submit CAC Registration, a Tax Clearance Certificate, and a Company Organogram.

Can employers submit roles requiring more than 2 years of experience?

No. The program is exclusively for Associates with 0–2 years of experience.
