Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Financial Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate financial records, including invoices, receipts, and payment vouchers.
  • Manage and update accounting ledgers and databases.


Transaction Processing:

  • Process incoming and outgoing payments related to clearing services, ensuring timely completion.
  • Handle cash, cheques, and electronic payments, ensuring proper recording of all transactions.


Reconciliation:

  • Perform regular reconciliations of bank statements, investigating and resolving any discrepancies promptly.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and receivable to maintain accurate financial statements.


Reporting:

  • Prepare periodic financial reports, such as profit and loss statements and cash flow forecasts, for management review.
  • Assist in budget preparation and financial analysis.


Communication:

  • Liaise with clients, banks, and regulatory bodies to address issues related to payments and accounts.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding account statuses and transactions.


Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with local financial regulations, tax obligations, and internal policies.
  • Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and reports.


Support to Senior Accountants:

  • Provide administrative support to senior accountants and finance managers in various financial tasks.


Requirements:

  • Attention to Detail: Precision is essential when handling financial data and transactions.
  • Proficiency in Accounting Software: Familiarity with tools like Tally, QuickBooks, or local accounting solutions.
  • Basic Understanding of Nigerian Financial Regulations: Knowledge of VAT and other compliance requirements.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication for interacting with clients and stakeholders.
  • Educational Background: A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is typically required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in accounting or finance, especially in the clearing or logistics sector, is beneficial.
