Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Officer to handle the company’s financial operations while managing critical business functions such as invoicing, quotations, RFQs, RFIs, and tenders. You will also be responsible for interfacing with clients’ accounts departments, ensuring smooth financial transactions, and ensuring the accuracy of all financial documentation.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, reports, and records.
  • Manage daily financial transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Oversee invoicing processes, ensuring timely and accurate invoices are generated and sent to clients.
  • Prepare quotations and respond to Requests for Quotation (RFQs) and Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of tenders, ensuring compliance with all required documentation.
  • Coordinate with clients’ account departments to resolve billing, payment, and financial issues.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, general ledgers, and financial records.
  • Monitor and ensure timely payment collection and manage outstanding receivables.
  • Support in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and manage tax returns.
  • Process payroll and manage employee benefits.
  • Conduct internal audits and assist in external audits.
  • Provide timely and accurate financial reports to management for decision-making purposes.
  • Assist in the development of financial policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Offer financial insights and recommendations to management for operational improvements.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Necessary medical certificates
  • Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience (with a strong preference for 4 years’ plus experience) as an Accountant in the conventional oil industry or related industries
  • Membership with either ICAN (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria) or
  • CITN (Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria).
  • Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Optional
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) Optional
  • other certifications such as ACCA, CIMA, etc. can be beneficial.
  • Possess the willingness to learn, improve and adapt. Have a detailed understanding of mud engineering.


Technical Skills and Knowledge:

  • Accounting Principles: A solid understanding of accounting principles, procedures, and regulations is crucial. 
  • Accounting Software Proficiency: Experience with accounting software like QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle is highly valued. 
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Ability to prepare and analyze financial statements. 
  • Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills to interpret financial data and identify trends. 
  • Mathematical Proficiency: Accuracy in calculations and a strong grasp of financial mathematics. 
  • Tax Knowledge: Familiarity with tax regulations and procedures. 


Soft Skills and Qualifications:

  • Attention to Detail: Accuracy and precision are essential in accounting. 
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate financial information clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve financial issues.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients, and other stakeholders. 
  • Integrity and Professionalism: Maintaining confidentiality and acting with integrity in handling financial information. 
  • Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures. 
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze financial data and make sound judgments.
