Job Description/Requirements
As a Chief Accounting Officer, you will assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in making critical financial decisions and optimize financial planning. You will be responsible for preparing financial reports and developing and implementing strategies to reduce businesses’ operational costs. You will provide administrative support to the CFO and will work with the Finance team to help maintain and smoothly run the accounts department.
Duties
- Gathering and interpreting information to evaluate the efficiency of financial procedures.
- Preparation of periodic budgets and variance analysis.
- Preparing financial reports and budgets and forecasting income and expenditure.
- Analyzing key financial data and advising senior management on strategic planning.
- Performing financial recordkeeping, as well as protecting sensitive and confidential information.
- Preparation of periodic accounting reports as well as end-of-year management accounts.
- Input and posting into the computerised accounting systems.
- Maintaining all records of assets and schedules.
- Communicate with all departments in ensuring invoices are approved and signed off.
- Using computerised accounting systems.
- Assisting with any other ad hoc duties as required by the CFO.
- Reconcile any discrepancies or errors identified by conversing with employees and/or clients and assisting in the month-end closing of accounts.
- Perform daily cash receipts, deposits, invoices, expenses, and reports.
- Collect and enter data for various financial spreadsheets.
- Communicate with all departments to ensure invoices are approved and signed off.
- Use computerized accounting systems and maintain petty cash for the office.
- Assist the Finance department in preparing budgets.
- Maintain close and timely communication and working relationships with the accounts department /Management Accountant.
- Provision of operational and technical support to the financial departments in order to meet targets and deadlines.
- Assisting in the preparation of auditing, bookkeeping, and statutory financial statement
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in accounting, finance, economics, or any related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years working experience as a Finance Assistant.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, QuickBooks and Outlook
- Extensive experience in preparing cash forecasts and cash flow analyses
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
- Good time management skills.
- Strong organization and multitasking skills
