Role Description

This is a full-time A&R Manager role located in Lagos. You will be responsible for scouting new talent, overseeing artist development, coordinating with producers and songwriters, and managing relationships with artists and labels. You’ll work closely with our creative and executive teams to shape artists’ careers, oversee projects from concept to release, and ensure alignment with our label’s vision. This role requires a balance of creative intuition, industry savvy, and leadership to drive REBIRTH Music’s growth.

What You’ll Do

• Scout and uncover new talent and emerging trends to create a robust pipeline of opportunities.
• Promote REBIRTH Music’s vision and services to artists, managers, and labels to attract new clients.
• Analyze and negotiate deal terms (advances, splits, royalties) and market rates, collaborating with A&R administration to develop recording budgets.
• Build and nurture relationships with key industry figures while seeking new connections to support artist growth.
• Explore local opportunities for Partner Artists in Nigeria and the Diaspora, partnering with global music and marketing teams to leverage trends, cross-genre remixes, and collaborations.
• Serve as the primary local contact for artists, aiding with release strategies and fostering strong relationships with stakeholders like managers, labels, and music publishers.
• Source producers, songwriters, session musicians, mix engineers, and collaborators to enhance projects.
• Act as REBIRTH Music’s creative ambassador in the music community, attending events, concerts, panels, and conferences, and connecting with radio promoters, DJs, tastemakers, and fellow artists.
• Partner with Artist Relations to ensure all recording-related documentation is accurate and fully executed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Deep understanding of the music industry, particularly Afro-gospel and contemporary genres.
• Exceptional ear for talent and ability to identify commercially viable artists.
• Strong leadership and project management skills to oversee multiple artist projects.
• Excellent networking and relationship-building abilities with artists and industry professionals.
• Proficiency in analyzing market trends and leveraging data for decision-making.
• Creative mindset with a passion for storytelling through music.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills to secure deals and partnerships.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of A&R experience in the music industry, with a track record of successful artist signings.
• Proven ability to manage artist development projects from start to finish.
• Familiarity with Afrobeat, gospel, or related music genres.
• Bachelor’s degree in music business, arts administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Ability to travel for scouting and industry events as needed.
