We invite applications for the position of an Associate Professor of Economics to join our pioneering faculty team. Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in economics, with a focus on engaging and practice-oriented pedagogy.
- Supervise student research projects, including at the master’s and doctoral levels.
- Conduct high-impact research with a focus on African economic development, public policy, or other relevant fields.
- Contribute to the design and development of curricula, academic policies, and departmental strategies.
- Lead or participate in grant applications and collaborative research initiatives. ∙ Mentor junior faculty and contribute to capacity building within the university.
- Engage with industry, government, and NGOs to strengthen the university’s links with society.
- Participate actively in university governance and strategic initiatives. Required Qualifications and Experience:
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. in Economics or a closely related field.
- At least 6–8 years of post-PhD academic experience, with a strong publication record in reputable journals.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and student supervision.
- A record of academic leadership or service, including curriculum development and mentoring.
- Evidence of research with regional impact, such as in development economics, public finance, trade, agricultural economics, or policy analysis.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Desirable Attributes:
- Experience in helping to establish or grow academic programs.
- Engagement with policy-making, consulting, or applied economic research in the Nigerian or African context.
- Experience working in interdisciplinary teams or with international partners. ∙ Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and academic integrity.
Remuneration: NGN 400,000
