Climate Finance/Road Expert

NTU International A/S is leading a consortium for a new EU funded project - Technical Assistance to AUDA-NEPAD - Infrastructure Support Mechanism (ISM) and is looking to identify individual experts to carry out the assignment.

The project aims to enhance road transport governance in Africa, with the anticipated impact being a reduction in trade costs and an improvement in the mobility of persons. The project is expected to foster the growth of an integrated African economy and to create job opportunities. The intended beneficiary, AUDA-NEPAD, in collaboration with the African Union Commission (AUC) and the Regional Economic Communities (RECs), will play the leading role in facilitating and supporting the implementation of the project’s activities at all levels.

Normal place of performance of the specific assignment: Midrand, South Africa

Duration: The intended start date is 17/11/2024 and the period of implementation of the contract will be 36 months from this date.

Senior International Key expert: Climate Finance/Road Expert

Qualifications and skills:

• Degree in development finance with a focus on climate/green financing, or related field, or the equivalent of at least 5 years of professional experience in this sector.
• Master's degree is an advantage.
• Proven quantitative analytical capabilities
• Excellent critical thinking skills with the ability to solve unstructured problems
• Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills
• Knowledge of either English or French (C1) in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages(CEFR), added advantage will be given to bilingual experts with a corresponding language minimum B2 level

General professional experience

At least 6 years of relevant professional experience covering in transport infrastructure financing, preferably in the road subsector

Specific professional experience

• 4 years of professional experience in sustainable infrastructure finance, project preparation (including design/structuring) due diligence and advisory processes across infrastructure sectors with public (e.g., DFIs, government agencies, ministries, regional public institutions etc.) and private clients (e.g., commercial banks, institutional investors, fund managers etc.).
• Experience working in Africa particularly in climate infrastructure is an advantage
• Knowledge of PIDA and other continental initiatives is an advantage
