Job Description/Requirements

Job Summary:

The Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the organization's billing processes, ensuring accurate and timely invoicing, and maintaining financial records related to accounts receivable. This role involves preparing invoices, reconciling billing discrepancies, and collaborating with clients and internal teams to resolve issues and ensure smooth payment processes.

The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a good understanding of accounting principles. They will be key in maintaining the company’s financial health by ensuring accurate and efficient billing practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and issue accurate invoices to clients based on contracts, services, or products provided.
  • Please monitor accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding payments to make sure they are taken care of.
  • Reconcile billing discrepancies, addressing client inquiries or disputes promptly.
  • Maintain accurate records of all billing transactions in the company’s financial systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., sales, customer service) to ensure proper billing procedures and resolve issues.
  • Prepare regular billing and revenue reports for management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies in billing practices.
  • Assist in audits by providing necessary billing documentation and data.

Qualifications

  • First degree or equivalent in Accounting, Economics, Finance or a related course from a reputable institution
  • Professional accounting qualification (or in view; final stage)
  • Relevant postgraduate qualifications would be an added advantage



Skills

  • Proven experience as a Billing Specialist or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of billing processes and accounts receivable.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards (e.g., tax laws, invoicing guidelines).


This role is crucial in ensuring the financial integrity of the company while providing excellent service to clients regarding billing and payment-related matters.
