Job Summary

An excellent cook must be able to follow instructions in cooking and deliver well - prepared meals. He/she must be adept at moving around the kitchen and apt in multi- tasking. The ideal candidates are required to have experience in using various ingredients and cooking techniques.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare meals according to dietary needs
  • Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing, and mixing ingredients.
  • Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish poultry, and other foods as requested
  • Present, garnish, and arrange final dishes
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling of utensils, equipment and dishes
  • Handle, store, and manage ingredients and food
  • Ensure ingredients are fresh
  • Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
  • Be willing to learn new recipes
  • Monitor and manage stock
  • Always wear the assigned uniform
  • Perform ad hoc duties that may be assigned.


Requirements:

  • Able to work days, evenings, and/or weekends/on short notice
  • Clean, with good hygiene habits
  • Communicates effectively

  • Multi-tasks efficiently
  • Organized, accurate and reliable

Desired Skills:

  • Candidate must have undergone catering courses, (diploma/ degree) with a minimum of 4 - 5 years experience as a professional Chef.
  • The desired candidate must be in absolute control of all the kitchen affairs.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • The ideal candidate must be organized and pay attention to details.
  • Must maintain an impeccable personal hygiene as well as high work and safety standards.
  • An excellent food presentation skill is highly required.
  • The candidate needs to be able to work with a variety of people and have coping skills to handle difficult personalities.
  • Must be able to delegate many kitchen tasks simultaneously.
  • The chef must have good knowledge of Nigerian and continental meal preparation.
