Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team. The CFO will play a crucial role in shaping the financial strategy and ensuring the long-term financial health of Gelose Marine Services. This role involves overseeing all financial operations, providing strategic recommendations to the CEO and executive team, managing financial forecasting and budgeting processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership:

  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s growth and profitability.
  • Provide strategic recommendations and financial analysis to the CEO and executive team.
  • Participate in pivotal decisions as a member of the executive team.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support business planning and strategy


Financial Operations and Management:

  • Oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.
  • Manage cash flow, investment activities, and strategic financial planning.
  • Lead the financial planning and analysis function to provide value-added insights and decision support.
  • Coordinate the development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets, as well as reporting for the same.
  • Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments and evaluate and manage capital structure and fundraising initiatives.


Compliance and Risk Management:

  • Ensure effective internal controls are in place and compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Take responsibility (either directly or via staff) for all cash management, investments, insurance, budgeting, and financial reporting, and help drive the company’s financial strategy.
  • Ensure cash flow is compatible with operations by overseeing day-to-day accounting, recording, reporting, and internal-control activities of the organization.
  • Comply with national and local financial requirements by studying existing and new legislation and taking appropriate action.


Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
  • Assist in training and resource development initiatives focusing on knowledge, skills, and attitudes for building capacities to deliver on present positions and build long-term capability to shoulder additional responsibilities.


Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting:

  • Ensure the maintenance of effective relationships and coordination with key stakeholders, including related entities and government bodies.
  • Represent the company in negotiations with external parties (e.g., banks, auditors, regulators).
  • Coordinate with stakeholders for the arrangement and management of funds, including grants.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • MA/MSc./MBA in Accounting, Finance or similar relevant field.
  • ICAN, ACCA, or CPA is required.
  • Minimum of 10 years plus total experience in Finance Management, and atleast 5 years at a senior level/executive level in the maritime or oil and gas industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.


Remuneration: NGN
800,000 – 1,200,000
