Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership: Oversee all nursing operations, including staffing, budgeting, and policy- making, to align with the hospital’s overall mission and goals.
- Clinical Excellence: Establish and maintain clinical protocols, ensuring adherence to best practices and compliance with Nigerian healthcare regulations.
- Staff Management & Development: Recruit, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff. Develop initiatives to improve retention, engagement, and professional growth.
- Budget & Resource Allocation: Collaborate with finance and administration to develop budgets, optimize resource allocation, and manage departmental expenditures.
- Quality & Patient Safety: Lead quality improvement initiatives, promote patient-centered care, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with physicians, department heads, and other stakeholders to coordinate inter-departmental activities and optimize patient outcomes.
- Policy & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all nursing practices comply with hospital policies, local and national regulations, and accreditation requirements.
- Reporting & Analytics: Prepare and present regular reports to the hospital’s executive board, highlighting nursing metrics, operational challenges, and strategic initiatives.
Requirements:
- Education & Certification: A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BNSc) is required; a Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is strongly preferred. Must possess a valid RN license recognized by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.
- Leadership Experience: Minimum of 7 years of progressive nursing experience, with at least 3 years a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to develop and implement long-term plans that enhance clinical outcomes and operational efficiency.
- Financial Acumen: Experience with budgeting, resource allocation, and financial planning in a healthcare setting.
- Regulatory Expertise: In-depth knowledge of Nigerian healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and clinical guidelines.
- Communication & Team Building: Excellent leadership, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, with a track record of building cohesive teams.
- Technology Proficiency: Proficient in healthcare IT systems and data analysis tools; ability to leverage technology to improve nursing workflows and patient care.
