Background Information
Jireh Doo Foundation (JDF) is a National Non-government organization with over 15 years’ existence and actively intervening in the humanitarian response in the North East and other parts of the country since 2014. JDF works in 5 thematic areas of Gender and Humanitarian response, HIV and Health, Child Development, Research and Information, Single parents, and covers four states of Borno, Gombe, Nasarawa, and Benue.
Jireh Doo Foundations’ humanitarian intervention in the North East of Nigeria spans largely across two-state, Borno and Gombe states, and has been working actively in the sectors of water sanitation and hygiene (WASH), food security, and livelihood protection, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
Jireh Doo Foundation is seeking candidates with a minimum of one year of experience working on child protection for the implementation of an NJR funded project, Nigerian Joint response in Dikwa.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure Do No Harm analysis are carried out and the humanitarian principles are adhered to.
- Carry out child friendly space (CFS activities with different age groups)
- Link the community with other resources (Referral pathway)
- Support case workers to monitor needs and gaps in and around child friendly spaces
- Ensure toys and recreational materials are rotated impartially amongst the children
- Support Protection team during community mobilization sensitization, conduct community home visits
- Conduct a daily visual assessment of the children and ensure a variety of structured games and activities within CFS, catering to the needs of children of different ages, genders, and abilities
- Attend child protection meetings
- Serve as interface between the organization and community leaders
- Support in the identification of individual with protection concern and refer
- Using the protection mapping as a guide, ensure identified needs are met
- Ensure a safe and friendly atmosphere within the child friendly space
- Ensure equipment and play materials are inventoried daily and kept properly. Ensure CFS location is kept clean and hygienic.
- Keep the caregivers and parents informed on developments and problems within the CFS and surrounding areas.
- Ensure that caregivers of children under 5 are present during CFS activities
- Must adhere to the child safeguarding and protection policies and reporting standards.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by Protection Officer/Line Manager.
Essential
- A secondary school certificate and or Minimum of one (1) years’ experience working on similar roles with vulnerable communities, basic needs, and protection programming experience, and/or advocacy programs.
- Experience in working with Non‐Governmental organizations.
- Proficiency in Kanuri, Shuwa, and Hausa is essential.
- The ability to communicate in English (written & spoken) is essential.
- Good communication skills and ability to conduct training and awareness
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
- Facilitate sessions within the women-friendly spaces
- Female and Male candidates are encouraged to apply.

- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality for sensitive issues or projects and use judgment to execute duties and responsibilities.
- Ability to work with children.
