Legal Officer

Responsibilities:

• Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and policies
• Conduct legal research and provide advice on legal matters, including company law, contract law, and regulatory compliance
• Provide legal support and guidance to the organization, including advising on legal implications of business decisions
• Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
• Collaborate with external legal counsel as needed
• Stay up-to-date with changes in laws and regulations affecting the organization
• Advise on and manage corporate governance matters, including board meetings, shareholder meetings, and other corporate governance issues
• Ensure compliance with company law, including filing annual returns, maintaining statutory records, and other compliance matters
• Manage and coordinate litigation and dispute resolution matters
• Provide training and guidance to staff on legal matters and compliance
• Develop and manage the company's compliance program
• Conduct due diligence on potential business partners, vendors, and suppliers
• Negotiate and draft contracts with business partners, vendors, and suppliers
• Advise on and manage intellectual property matters, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Law (LL. B) or equivalent
• Must be called to the Nigerian bar
• At least 1-3 years of experience as a Company Lawyer or equivalent
• Strong knowledge of company law, contract law, and regulatory compliance
• Excellent drafting and research skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
