We’re seeking an experienced Country Lead to oversee the implementation of a USD 21 million Energy Fund in Nigeria, focusing on transformative initiatives that empower communities and drive sustainable energy solutions.
In this role, you will manage all aspects of the funds program, including planning, budgeting, complete oversight and monitoring as well as stakeholder engagement. You will ensure the quality and timely delivery of program objectives in collaboration with key partners, including donors, public and private stakeholders. Additionally, you will coordinate the establishment of the energy fund portfolio and its budget, all the while monitoring and evaluating program performance. Afterall – this fund is aimed at driving a positive impact.

As the ideal candidate, you have at least 10+ years of program management experience, including 4+ years in senior roles in the clean energy and energy efficiency sector. Your strong knowledge and network in Nigeria's energy landscape (productive use and C&I markets) and your understanding of the project cycle, regulatory, as well as financial aspects will enable the success through effective cooperations. It is vital that you have experience in the private sector development space! You need to be well versed with handling tough negotiations and be a pro at expectation management with both private and public sector holders at exec levels. Familiarity with energy efficiency solutions, experience with Results Based Financing (RBF) projects, and strong collaboration skills are essential, along with an understanding of how to strategize and implement funded programmes that are measurable and can be replicated with high-yielding results. You need to have a finger on the pulse at every touch point, so not only are your leadership abilities impeccable (managing and driving large teams) but so is your ability to have a helicopter view of each and every activity which falls under your purview.

Education Requirements
- A degree in Energy, Economics, Rural Development, Project Management, Business Management, Development Studies, or a related field
- Certification in project management is key
- At least 10+ years of experience in programme management for private sector development is key
- Minimum of 4+ years in a senior role within the renewable energy and climate technologies sector or a related area
- Demonstrated success in preparing and executing stakeholder engagement strategies, particularly in the Nigerian context
- Established network within both public and private sectors involved in energy access, renewable energy, and energy efficiency
- Background of project cycle management, including monitoring, evaluation, and reporting
- Experience with Results Based Financing (RBF) initiatives in the energy sector
- Understanding of productive energy applications and energy efficiency in commercial and industrial environments
- Lead Implementation: Manage all facets of the Energy Fund
- Regulatory Compliance: Confirm that the programme adheres to the requirements set by donors and government entities
- Partnerships: Create and execute strategies to foster collaboration among stakeholders
- Preparatory Activities: Direct pre-launch initiatives to ensure successful implementation of the programme
- Portfolio Coordination: Design and coordinate the fund portfolio aimed at exceeding the desired outcomes
- Budget Management: Supervise the financial plan, ensuring prudent financial oversight and adherence to donor stipulations
- Performance Evaluation: Assess programme effectiveness according to the established performance management framework
- Incorporate Insights: Embed learnings from monitoring and evaluation into the broader strategy to enhance portfolio quality and strengthen its reputation
- Strategic Direction: Guide the team responsible for the energy fund’s successful execution in Nigeria
- Technical Development: Offer expertise in forming partnerships within the Renewable Energy sector
