Job Description/Requirements
About KÍLÉNTÀR
KÍLÉNTÀR is a contemporary fashion house rooted in African craftsmanship and storytelling. We collaborate with artisans across West Africa to create collections that are bold, timeless, and rich in culture. Each piece is a conversation between tradition and innovation — a commitment to preserving heritage while pushing the boundaries of design.
We’re now looking for a Fashion Design Assistant to join our team and work directly with our Founder and the broader design team. This role is perfect for someone who lives and breathes fashion, is highly creative, and has a sharp technical eye for detail. You’ll play a key role in shaping upcoming collections — from concept to final sample.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Assist in designing and developing seasonal collections alongside the Founder.
- Translate ideas, sketches, and moodboards into CADs and detailed Tech Packs.
- Research trends, fabrics, silhouettes, and cultural inspiration to feed into new concepts.
- Help source fabrics, trims, and materials in line with our brand aesthetic.
- Participate in fittings and reviews, and liaise with our production team and manufacturers.
- Support with organising samples and keeping our archive up to date.
- Collaborate with our Buying and Merch team to place sample orders.
Who You Are
- A passionate and thoughtful designer who is excited by the mix of storytelling, craft, and culture.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with strong digital design and sketching skills.
- A strong understanding of garment construction and fabrication.
- Detail-oriented, organised, and able to manage multiple tasks at once.
- A team player who’s also confident working independently.
- Familiar with KÍLÉNTÀR’s design ethos and excited to contribute to our creative journey.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Fashion Design or a related field.
- 1–2 years of relevant experience (internships included), preferably with a contemporary or luxury brand.
- Portfolio of past work or university projects demonstrating your design process and final pieces.
- Preferably candidate to be based in London or Lagos but not necessary.
