The Electrical Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality theoretical and practical training in electrical trades based on Nigeria's National Occupational Standards for Construction/Building Trades. The role involves teaching essential electrical skills and ensuring effective application in real-world settings.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Training Delivery:
- Deliver comprehensive training on electrical tools, wiring systems, and safety procedures.
- Teach students to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
- Instruct on the installation, modification, and repair of electrical systems.
- Provide hands-on training in using various electrical instruments like multimeters, insulation testers and didactics training modules.
- Educate on joining and bending PVC pipes, including 90-degree bends, offsets, and saddle bends.
- Instruct on the identification and use of various types of drill bits and power drills for installing fixtures.
- Guide the installation of different fasteners and provide training on motor control systems.
- Responsible for the electrical maintenance of the training facilities and hostel.
- Update lesson plans, learning objectives, and course materials as required.
- Evaluate student performance through practical and theoretical assessments.
- Provide instruction on the use of CAD software such as AutoCAD, and others to create detailed electrical layouts and models
Workshop Management:
- Maintain the electrical workshop, ensuring that tools and equipment are secure and in good working order.
- Manage the procurement and efficient use of electrical materials and tools.
Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with the Training Manager to revise and update electrical course content on the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Integrate videos, weekly tests, and exams into the course curriculum to enhance learning outcomes.
Administrative Duties:
- Prepare and submit progress reports for each participant.
- Mentor new trainers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Manage the inventory of training materials and supplies.
Requirements:
- HND/B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of practical experience in the construction industry, focusing on electrical systems.
- Registration with COREN and other bodies is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- In-depth hands-on and theoretical knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans and codes.
- Proficiency in using and instructing on electrical tools and equipment.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.Experience with modern educational technology.
- Installation of a three-phase distribution board and all associated protective devices
- Motor control panel setup
- Perform all the tests required by The IET Wiring Regulations 18TH Edition BS 7671:2008
- Identify hazards involved in testing
- Safe isolation of electrical supplies
- Use of Kewtech Kewprove 3 (Proving Unit) and Kewtech Kt35 Digital Insulation/Continuity Tester
Work Environment:
- Role involves standing for long periods and conducting hands-on demonstrations.
- Ability to handle and maneuver heavy electrical equipment and materials.
- Field visits to industrial and commercial sites to provide real-world exposure to trainees and for trainers to keep up to date with industrial standards.
