Job Summary
The Export Manager will oversee all export operations at the Export Processing Terminal (EPT), ensuring the efficient handling, documentation, clearance, and transportation of goods for international shipment. This role involves managing compliance with customs regulations, export documentation, logistics coordination, and stakeholder engagement to facilitate seamless export activities.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Export Operations & Logistics Management:
- Supervise the receipt, processing, and storage of export cargo at the terminal.
- Ensure efficient cargo handling, packaging, and loading for shipment.
- Oversee transportation and movement of export cargo to seaports or airports.
- Coordinate with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and logistics providers to schedule shipments.
- Implement best practices to minimize delays and optimize terminal efficiency.
Compliance & Regulatory Management:
- Ensure strict compliance with Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Nigeria Export promotion council (NEPC), Standard organisation of Nigeria (SON), NAFDAC, Nigeria agricultural quarantine service (NAQS), and other regulatory agencies.
- Oversee the preparation and submission of export documentation, including: Form NXP (Nigeria Export Proceeds Form), Bill of Lading / Airway Bill, Commercial Invoice & Packing List, and Certificates of Origin, Phytosanitary & Quality Certificates
- Stay updated on export laws, trade policies, tariffs, and government regulations.
- Work closely with customs officers and relevant agencies to resolve clearance issues.
Stakeholder & Client Management:
- Act as the primary contact for exporters, customs officials, freight forwarders, and government agencies.
- Handle inquiries from exporters and provide guidance on export procedures and compliance.
- Develop strong relationships with international buyers, trade associations, and regulatory bodies.
- Address and resolve any disputes, delays, or operational challenges.
Documentation & Record-Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of export transactions, clearance status, and cargo movements.
- Ensure all documentation is processed in a timely manner to avoid shipment delays.
- Utilize electronic tracking systems to monitor export cargo from terminal to port.
Quality Control & Risk Management:
- Ensure all exported goods meet international quality and packaging standards.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to cargo handling, customs procedures, and documentation errors.
- Implement strategies to reduce demurrage costs and improve terminal efficiency.
Financial & Cost Control:
- Monitor export processing costs, terminal handling charges, and logistics expenses.
- Optimize operations to reduce costs while maintaining service efficiency.
- Ensure all export payments and transactions are completed on time.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master's degree is an added advantage.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years in export operations, logistics, or terminal management.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of export procedures, customs regulations, and international trade laws.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in export documentation software, cargo tracking systems, and logistics management tools.
- Communication & Negotiation: Strong ability to coordinate with regulatory agencies, clients, and shipping companies.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to handle export delays, documentation issues, and compliance challenges effectively.
- Leadership: Experience managing teams within a terminal, logistics, or export processing environment.
