Job Summary:
The Export Sales Manager will be tasked with driving international market expansion,
specifically targeting West African states. This role encompasses identifying new sales
opportunities and overseeing the entire export process, from supply chain management to
customs clearance. Responsibilities include developing strategic pricing models, managing
relationships with international clients, and ensuring the efficiency of export operations to
achieve targeted sales growth. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the
West African market, a comprehensive understanding of export logistics, and the capability to
navigate a variety of international trade requirements, thereby ensuring the company’s
success in global markets.
Key Responsibilities:
1. International Market Expansion & Business Development:
Develop and implement strategies to expand the company's presence in international
markets, with a particular focus on the African market.
Conduct thorough market research to identify new business opportunities across
various sectors, including production and trading.
Build and maintain a robust network of distributors, agents, and strategic partners to
drive sales in new regions.
Prepare and deliver engaging presentations to potential clients, showcasing product
offerings and business solutions.
The candidate will be required to travel within West African states, with travel
expectations comprising approximately 50% of their time.
2. Identification of New Sales Opportunities:
Identify and evaluate new potential sales opportunities across various industries.
Analyse market trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs to develop
targeted sales approaches.
Engage with industry stakeholders to understand emerging market demands and adapt
the company's product offerings accordingly.
3. Supply Chain & Export Process Management:
Oversee the entire export process, from sales forecasting and inventory management
to transportation, logistics, and customs clearance.
Collaborate with the logistics team to ensure efficient shipment planning, container
loading, and adherence to transportation routes.
Ensure compliance with export regulations, customs requirements, and international
trade laws.
Manage the coordination between production, warehousing, and logistics to meet
client delivery timelines.
4. Sales Reporting:
Prepare regular sales reports, including analysis of market performance, sales volume,
and revenue generation.
Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to international sales and export
activities.
Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on sales data
analysis and market feedback.
Develop and monitor budgets and sales forecasts for international markets.
5. Management of International Client Relationships:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with international clients, ensuring a high
level of customer satisfaction.
Follow up on financial transactions, inventory levels, product demand, and innovation
opportunities.
Act as the primary point of contact for international clients, addressing inquiries,
resolving issues, and providing product and service updates.
Conduct regular business reviews with clients to align on future business plans and
growth opportunities.
6. Pricing Strategy & Product Development:
Develop competitive pricing strategies for international markets, taking into account
market conditions, competitor pricing, and cost structures.
Work closely with the product development team to adapt products for specific
market needs and preferences.
Analyse market feedback and customer preferences to suggest improvements or new
product lines that meet international demand.
Key Requirements:
1. Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Business, Supply Chain
Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience with a Master’s degree or other postgraduate
certification, or 12+ years with a First Degree or its equivalent, focusing on sales.
A proven track record, with at least 3 years of experience in a similar managerial role.
Significant experience in export sales and international market development is
required.
Experience working in the African market is essential.
Demonstrated expertise in managing the entire export process, including supply chain
and logistics management.
2. Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of export logistics, including container loading, customs
procedures, and transportation routes.
Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills with international clients and
partners.
Proficiency in analysing sales data and market trends to support informed business
decisions.
Ability to develop and implement strategic sales plans that drive international market
growth.
Familiarity with international trade regulations and compliance requirements.
3. Personal Attributes:
Results-driven and self-motivated, with a focus on achieving sales targets.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing
market conditions.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to clearly
present complex information.
