We are seeking a Front-end Engineer for our Technology team, reporting to the founders. You will play a critical role in shaping the technological direction and key components of our company from the ground up. You will work closely with the founders to build, scale, and optimize our product/platform, while fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.

You’ll also work directly with our advisors and customers to hear their challenges first-hand and show how the solutions we’re building can help them. This is a unique opportunity to leave your mark from the very beginning of a new product and help shape the future of startups in Africa.

If you have excellent programming skills, a passion for developing applications combined with a track record of excellence in building early stage applications, we want to meet you.

Job Objectives & Timelines

2 months...

• Build MVP based on defined product roadmap and test usage and adoption rate based on pre-set metrics
  
  
  

After 6 months...

• Deliver expanded platform functionality, work directly with our customers to help them get onboarded. You’ll lay out new roadmaps and decisions based on learnings and retrospectives and implement new features and use cases
  
  
  

After 12 months...

• As we continue to deliver new functionality to the market, you’ll design, develop, and launch the technology that powers it
  
  
  

What We Are Looking For

• Early stage experience translating the founders' vision into a functional technological solution
• Ability to prototype new features and own delivery from development to production
• Has experience working with a small/medium team preferably at a startup or large organization
• Demonstrates deep frontend expertise plus working knowledge of back-end
• Loves working directly with customers to hear about their challenges and help design solutions for them
• Working closely with the engineering team during the development process to ensure that designs are properly implemented and to maximize usability and performance
• Prioritizes delivery speed and “done” over “perfect”
• Bonus points for experience with natural language processing technologies, data science, or AI/ML
