Job Summary
The Finance Officer will oversee the financial management of the Promoting CSO-led Peacebuilding Initiatives in the Lake Chad Basin Sub-region project. This includes preparing budgets, managing accounts, tracking expenditures, and ensuring compliance with donor and organizational financial policies.
Specific Responsibilities
- Prepare and monitor project budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational and donor requirements.
- Manage project funds, including disbursements, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records.
- Process invoices, payments, and staff payroll in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and donor regulations.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for submission to donors and management.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
- Collaborate with program staff to ensure efficient use of project resources.
- Provide training and support to project staff on financial management and compliance.
- Monitor cash flow and ensure timely replenishment of funds for project activities.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in financial management, preferably in a non-profit or development organization.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management systems.
- Experience with donor-funded projects and familiarity with donor compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Hausa and Kanuri is an added advantage.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks.
