Job Description/Requirements

Job Summary

The Finance Officer will oversee the financial management of the Promoting CSO-led Peacebuilding Initiatives in the Lake Chad Basin Sub-region project. This includes preparing budgets, managing accounts, tracking expenditures, and ensuring compliance with donor and organizational financial policies.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Prepare and monitor project budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational and donor requirements.
  • Manage project funds, including disbursements, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records.


  • Process invoices, payments, and staff payroll in a timely and accurate manner.


  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and donor regulations.


  • Maintain proper documentation and filing of all financial transactions.


  • Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports for submission to donors and management.


  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.


  • Collaborate with program staff to ensure efficient use of project resources.


  • Provide training and support to project staff on financial management and compliance.


  • Monitor cash flow and ensure timely replenishment of funds for project activities.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in financial management, preferably in a non-profit or development organization.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial management systems.
  • Experience with donor-funded projects and familiarity with donor compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of Hausa and Kanuri is an added advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks.
