As the Fleet Operations Manager you will be responsible for managing the daily operations and maintenance of the company’s electric vehicle fleet. This includes overseeing vehicle availability, ensuring optimal fleet performance, managing logistics, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the fleet, ensuring that all vehicles are maintained, repaired, and serviced on time to maximize vehicle uptime and efficiency.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance schedule for the fleet, ensuring regular servicing and repair of all vehicles to avoid breakdowns and ensure longevity.
  • Manage and supervise the drivers, ensuring that they adhere to company policies, safety regulations, and operational procedures. Conduct regular driver performance reviews and provide training as needed.
  • Plan and optimize vehicle routes to ensure timely and cost-effective deliveries or transportation services. Analyze route performance and make adjustments to improve efficiency.
  • Monitor fuel consumption across the fleet and implement strategies to reduce fuel costs. Track and report on fuel usage, ensuring accurate records are maintained.
  • Ensure all vehicles and drivers comply with local and national safety and regulatory requirements, including proper licensing, vehicle inspections, and adherence to road safety standards.
  • Manage the fleet budget, controlling costs related to vehicle maintenance, fuel consumption, and driver expenses. Implement cost-saving initiatives where possible.
  • Maintain accurate records of fleet activities, including vehicle usage, maintenance, fuel consumption, and driver performance. Generate reports on fleet efficiency and provide insights for improvement.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to identify and acquire new vehicles when needed. Evaluate the performance of new vehicles and assess their suitability for the company’s operations.
  • Implement and enforce policies related to vehicle usage, accident reporting, and driver safety. Investigate and resolve any incidents involving the fleet, including accidents or violations.
  • Liaise with external vendors, service providers, and vehicle manufacturers to ensure timely repairs, maintenance, and procurement of spare parts.
  • Manage inventory levels for spare parts, tires, and other vehicle-related supplies. Ensure adequate stock to support the fleet’s operational needs.



Requirements:

  • BSc. or HND in a relevant field.
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in fleet management or a similar role, with a proven track record of managing large fleets.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance, repairs, and fleet operations. Familiarity with fleet management software and GPS tracking systems is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team of drivers and support staff.
  • Strong analytical skills to track fleet performance, fuel usage, and costs. Ability to generate and interpret data reports to optimize operations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to coordinate with drivers, management, and external vendors.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve issues related to vehicle breakdowns, accidents, and route disruptions promptly.
  • High attention to detail in managing vehicle records, maintenance schedules, and fuel logs.
  • Familiarity with local and national transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritizing tasks and ensuring the fleet operates efficiently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
