Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the fleet, including scheduling and dispatching vehicles to ensure timely and efficient service.
- Schedule and coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of the fleet.
- Ensure all vehicles comply with safety regulations and company policies.
- Hire, train, and evaluate drivers, promoting a culture of safety and professionalism.
- Monitor fuel consumption and costs, implementing strategies to reduce expenses and improve efficiency.
- Keep accurate records of fleet maintenance, expenses, and performance.
- Optimize routes for efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Plan and manage the acquisition of new vehicles to expand the fleet.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by addressing complaints and improving service quality.
- Analyze fleet performance data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for fleet-related incidents.
- Oversee and coordinate the activities of mechanics, ensuring that maintenance and repair work is done correctly and efficiently.
- Inspect completed work for adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Schedule and assign work to mechanics based on their skills and capabilities.
- Provide training and guidance to mechanics, facilitating skill development and career growth.
- Monitor inventory levels of spare parts and order necessary supplies to avoid work delays.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures in the workplace.
- Oversee the use of diagnostic tools and equipment to identify vehicle issues.
- Maintain detailed records of all repairs and maintenance activities.
- Manage the budget for the maintenance department, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with parts suppliers and service vendors.
- Implement continuous improvement processes to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of maintenance operations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 3-5 years in fleet management, including experience in supervising fleet operations and/or mechanics.
- Experience in managing a team and handling maintenance-related tasks in a fleet environment.
- Strong ability to manage, motivate, and develop teams of drivers and mechanics.
- Expertise in scheduling, dispatching, and optimizing fleet operations.
- Solid understanding of vehicle mechanics, maintenance procedures, and diagnostic tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements for fleet safety, maintenance, and vehicle operations.
- Ability to analyze operational costs and implement strategies for cost control and efficiency.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for fleet performance and vehicle issues.
- Proficient in analyzing performance metrics and implementing improvements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills for managing relationships with external suppliers and service providers.
- Ability to manage budgets for fleet operations and maintenance efficiently.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
