Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and energetic legal practitioner to oversee legal, compliance, public policy advocacy, compliance, and employee-related functions for an emerging IT startup.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert legal advice and guidance to the executive team on all matters affecting the company.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts and agreements, including partnerships, licensing, and vendor contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, both domestic and international.
  • Coordinate compliance activities such as registering with applicable agencies and ensuring compliance with regulations that apply to the industry in which we operate.
  • Develop and implement robust compliance programs and policies to mitigate legal risks.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and ensure the company’s practices adhere to evolving legal
  • standards.
  • Conduct internal audits and investigations as needed to ensure compliance.
  • Represent the company in public policy discussions and advocacy efforts.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, industry groups, and regulatory bodies.
  • Advocate for policies and regulations that support the company’s business objectives and growth.
  • Advise on employment law matters, including hiring practices, employee contracts, and
  • termination procedures.
  • Develop and enforce company policies related to workplace conduct, ethics, and compliance.
  • Handle employee disputes and grievances, ensuring fair and lawful resolution.


Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active membership in at least one state bar.
  • Minimum of 3 years of legal experience, with a strong background in technology, startups, or corporate law, intellectual property law, employee relations for IT, banking, or the hospitality industry
  • Proven experience in managing a wide range of legal matters, including compliance, IP, and employee relations.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide strategic legal advice in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining the company’s integrity and reputation.
