Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Grant Writing & Management:
- Research, identify, and prioritize grant opportunities aligned with the foundation’s mission and target SDGs.
- Develop and write compelling grant proposals, concept notes, and donor reports tailored to each funder’s requirements and interests.
- Manage the entire grant lifecycle – from initial application and budgeting through compliance, reporting, and renewal – ensuring all deadlines and donor guidelines are met with high-quality submissions.
Donor Relations & Fundraising Strategy:
- Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, funders, and philanthropic partners through regular communication, updates, and engagement opportunities.
- Develop and execute a strategic fundraising plan to secure multi-year funding partnerships and diversify revenue streams (e.g. government grants, corporate sponsorships, and foundation support).
- Collaborate closely with program and finance teams to align grant proposals with project objectives, budgets, and impact metrics, ensuring funding requests are realistic and impactful.
Collaboration & Teamwork:
- Coordinate fundraising efforts across the organization, working both independently and as part of a team to meet ambitious funding targets.
- Support and guide program teams in understanding donor priorities and aligning project designs with funding requirements and strategic goals.
- Provide training, mentoring, and capacity-building to staff on effective grant writing, donor engagement, and compliance best practices to strengthen overall fundraising capacity.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in grant writing, fundraising, and donor relations, preferably in the international development, education, or economic empowerment sectors.
- Strong knowledge of global development issues and frameworks – especially in education, decent work, and economic empowerment – with an ability to connect program outcomes to SDG 4, 8, and 10.
- Demonstrated success in securing significant funding from multiple sources (government agencies, corporate sponsors, and philanthropic foundations).
- Excellent communication and writing skills, with the ability to craft a persuasive narrative and adapt tone/style to different audiences.
- Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple deadlines, budgets, and reporting requirements.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a diverse team, showing initiative, flexibility, and leadership when coordinating efforts.
