Leafgreenafrica Institute LTD/GTE is a non-profit environmental conservation organization dedicated to protecting Nigeria's natural resources and promoting sustainable development. We utilize innovative approaches, including geospatial technologies (GIS), to address critical environmental challenges. Our projects encompass a wide range of conservation efforts, including forest preservation, biodiversity protection, sustainable agriculture, and climate resilience initiatives.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Volunteer Grant Writer to join our team. This remote position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful environmental conservation projects while gaining valuable experience in grant writing and non-profit development. The Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to various funding sources. This is an unpaid volunteer position.
Responsibilities:
- Grant Research: Identify potential grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources that align with Leafgreen Africa's mission and programs.
- Proposal Development: Write compelling and persuasive grant proposals, including narrative sections, budgets, and supporting documentation.
- Grant Management: Maintain a grant calendar and track application deadlines, ensuring timely submission of proposals.
- Reporting: Assist in the preparation of grant reports and other required documentation for funders.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the organization's leadership and project managers to gather information and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Documentation: Maintain organized records of grant applications, awards, and reports.
- Stay Updated: Remain current on grant writing best practices and funding trends in the environmental conservation sector.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in grant writing, preferably within the environmental or non-profit sector.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft clear, concise, and persuasive proposals.
- Strong research and analytical skills,2 with the ability to identify relevant funding opportunities.
- Proficiency in developing and managing budgets for grant proposals.
- Ability to work independently and remotely, managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Passion for environmental conservation and a commitment to Leafgreenafrica's mission.
- Familiarity with geospatial technologies (GIS) is a plus.
- Experience with Nigerian grant making bodies is a plus.
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., environmental science, communications, or public policy) is preferred.
- Must be able to commit a set number of hours per week to the role.
