Role Summary
Head of Finance responsibilities include creating forecasting models, assessing risk in investments and ensuring all accounting activities comply with regulations. The Head of Finance is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company's financial operations. This includes strategic financial planning, accounting, treasury, financial reporting, risk management and budgeting. The ideal candidate is a highly analytical and results-oriented leader with a proven track record of success in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Planning;
· Develop and implement the organization's financial strategy to support business objectives.
· Prepare and manage the annual budget, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.
· Provide strategic financial advice to the CEO and board of directors.
Financial Management
· Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounting, treasury, tax, and payroll.
· Manage cash flow, optimize working capital, and ensure the availability of funds for operations and growth.
· Supervise the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
Leadership and Team Management
· Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team to achieve organizational goals.
· Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
· Collaborate with other department heads to align financial goals with organizational objectives.
Risk Management and Compliance
· Identify financial risks and develop mitigation strategies.
· Ensure compliance with local, national, and international financial regulations and standards.
· Manage relationships with auditors, banks, investors, and regulatory bodies.
Treasury & Cash Management:
· Manage cash flow, optimize working capital, and ensure adequate liquidity.
· Oversee banking relationships and treasury functions.
· Manage debt and equity financing activities.
· Performance Monitoring and Reporting
· Monitor and analyze financial performance against budgets and forecasts.
· Provide insightful financial analysis to drive decision-making.
· Prepare reports and presentations for the board and stakeholders.
· Any other duties as may be reasonably assigned.
Key Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (mandatory).
Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field.
Professional Certifications
Chartered Accountant (CA), or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation is highly desirable.
Experience
· A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
· Proven experience in financial planning, strategy development, and team management.
· Demonstrated success in managing complex financial operations in a medium to large organization.
· Skills and Competencies
· Strong understanding of corporate finance, accounting principles, and financial reporting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS).
· Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
· Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Strong leadership abilities and the capacity to influence across all levels of the organization.
