Head of Investment Operations

Position Overview:

The Head of Investment Operations will oversee and manage all operational aspects of the asset management business, ensuring that investment activities are executed efficiently and in compliance with regulatory standards. The role involves leading the investment operations team, managing trade processing, portfolio management support, and ensuring the accurate and timely execution of all investment operations activities. This position requires a strong background in asset management operations, with experience in managing teams, systems, and processes related to investments.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the trade execution and settlement processes, ensuring trades are processed accurately and timely in alignment with regulatory standards.
• Ensure efficient transaction lifecycle management, from trade execution to settlement, including coordination with brokers, custodians, and counterparties.
• Provide operational support to portfolio managers, ensuring accurate portfolio reporting and reconciliation of positions and cash balances.
• Assist in implementing portfolio rebalancing, risk management strategies, and tracking of investment performance.
• Ensure all investment operations comply with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Collaborate with risk and compliance teams to develop and maintain procedures to monitor operational risks associated with trading, settlements, and reporting.
• Lead and manage the investment operations team, providing direction and guidance to team members to ensure high performance and operational excellence.
• Continuously review and optimize investment operations processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the accuracy and timeliness of operations.
• Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational tasks and ensure consistent tracking and reporting.
• Oversee the integration and management of investment management systems and technology platforms that support trade execution, portfolio management, and reporting.
• Collaborate with IT and system vendors to ensure technology solutions meet operational needs and remain up to date with industry standards.
• Manage relationships with external service providers, including custodians, fund administrators, brokers, and technology vendors, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services and timely resolution of issues.
• Liaise with auditors, internal compliance teams, and other departments to ensure operational processes align with broader organizational goals.
• Provide regular operational reports to senior management, highlighting operational performance, trade execution, settlement issues, and any operational challenges.
• Work closely with portfolio managers, compliance, and risk teams to ensure alignment of operational activities with broader business objectives.

Desired Qualifications:

• A good first degree (minimum of Second Class Upper)
• An MBA, CFA, or other relevant certifications are a plus.
• 7+ years of experience in investment operations or a related field within asset management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing investment operations teams.
• Strong understanding of investment products, trade processes, and financial markets.
• Experience with portfolio management systems, trading platforms, and reconciliation tools.
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance standards related to investment operations.
• Excellent leadership and team management skills with the ability to drive operational excellence.
• Ability to identify operational risks and implement effective controls.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills.
• Proficiency in investment operations software.
• Detail-oriented with a strong focus on accuracy and compliance.
