Our client, a professional and reputable Industrial Cleaning and Waste Management Company, is seeking to hire an experienced Health Service Officer (HSE) based in Port Harcourt.
Job Overview
The HSE Officer is responsible for enforcing compliance with Quality, Health, and Safety policies.
Responsibilities
- Monitor Fire fighting equipment to ensure that maintenance schedule is adhered to
- Monitor operational activities and ensure compliance with QHSE policies
- Ensure JHA are conducted for routine and non-routine activities
- Conduct daily QHSE Performance reporting to QHSE Manager
- Ensure and enforce compliance with QHSE Policies.
- Administer First Aid functions in cases of emergency
- Organize and execute daily tool box meeting
- Carry out daily HSE Statistics reporting
- Conduct daily facility Safety inspection
- Assist in performing IMS Internal Audit
- Compliance to quality, health, safety policies and procedures
- Compliance to QHSSE regulations
- Statutory Permit processing and Project risk appraisal and Management
- Support in bid documentation
- Accident and Incident investigation & reporting
- Security reporting
Skill Requirement
- Communication – Strong communication skills are critical for relaying information clearly
- Reporting – The ability to document events, incidents, or progress clearly and concisely is important, particularly in the context of workplace safety or emergency management.
- First Aid – Knowledge of basic first aid practices (like CPR, wound care, or treating burns) is essential for handling medical emergencies until professional help arrives.
- Basic Fire Fighting – Understanding how to use fire extinguishers and other fire-fighting equipment, as well as knowing basic fire safety protocols, can be life-saving in a fire emergency.
