The ideal candidate is responsible for the overall welfare, discipline, and day-to-day management of students residing in a school hostel, ensuring their safety, cleanliness, academic progress, and adherence to hostel rules, often acting as a mother figure and providing guidance and support while maintaining a structured living environment.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring student health and wellbeing, addressing concerns, and providing necessary support. 
  • Maintaining open communication with students, encouraging them to discuss personal issues. 
  • Ensuring students adhere to hostel rules and regulations, including curfews, cleanliness standards, and behavior guidelines. 
  • Supervising hostel staff, including cleaners and security personnel. 
  • Managing room assignments and overseeing room changes as needed. 
  • Coordinating meal schedules and ensuring proper dietary needs are met. 
  • Overseeing maintenance and repairs within the hostel. 
  • Encouraging academic excellence by monitoring study habits and providing academic guidance when required.
  • Facilitating study sessions or group work as needed.
  • Communicating with teachers regarding student academic progress.
  • Addressing disciplinary issues promptly and fairly, enforcing consequences for rule violations.
  • Mediating conflicts between students and resolving disputes.
  • Organizing social events and activities within the hostel to foster a positive community atmosphere.
  • Providing emotional support and guidance to students experiencing personal challenges.
  • Maintaining regular communication with parents or guardians regarding student welfare. 

Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and staff. 
  • Strong leadership and organizational abilities to manage daily operations effectively. 
  • Empathy and understanding to provide emotional support and pastoral care to students. 
  • Ability to enforce rules fairly and consistently while maintaining positive relationships. 
  • Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to student safety and well-being.
