Job Summary

The HR Manager will lead the provision of a high-quality and responsive HR Service, coordinating the workflow and ensuring that the HR team is actively engaged in the continuous improvement of all HR services in the Institution. Acts as the first point of contact for queries from managers and staff across the institution

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Team Management:

  • Lead team to ensure delivery of an excellent and accurate HR operations service to customers.
  • Act as a role model for HR coordinators and HR Assistants, coaching and developing team members to ensure an excellent level of performance and that they reach their potential.
  • Supervise the delivery of HR Operations, managing the workflow to ensure, accurate, high-quality, and timely provision of services to all customers within the HR department and across the university.
  • Facilitate the development of standard operating procedures and service standards, ensuring that these are monitored to ensure the high quality and consistent delivery of HR services.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the team to identify ways of improving performance levels.

Overseeing HR Operations Administration:

  • Supervision of the HR team in all aspects of HR Administration including acting as the first point of contact for internal and external customers regarding recruitment, pay and benefits, policies, and procedures.
  • Support the resolution of user issues relating to the self-service HR system promptly. This includes access issues, maintaining the staff hierarchy, providing audit data, resolving issues around authorizations and claims, etc.
  • Ensure employees’ records are maintained accurately in line with approved regulations.

Supervision of Recruitment and Onboarding Process:

  • Supervise the end-to-end recruitment processes, and implement accessible guidance and support to enhance the experience for recruiting managers, the candidates, and HR.
  • Ensure that all recruitment activity is processed promptly and that the team liaises with recruiting managers, HR Partners, and candidates efficiently and professionally.
  • Ensure compliance with all pre-employment checks, and vetting processes with relevant partners, references, qualifications, and right-to-work checks.

Oversee Process for New Employees, Offboarding, and Changes to Contractual Terms:

  • Collaborate with other HR operations and Payroll teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of information relating to new employees, leavers, and contractual changes to deadlines.
  • Complete and approve relevant school-specific staff documentation. Liaise with the Systems and Payroll teams to review the ways of working amongst the wider HR department
  • Act as the escalation point for HR Coordinators, HR Partners, or line managers, assisting with query resolution and case managing complex calls and queries (when required).
  • Support the effective delivery of the probation process for new starters.

Other General Functions: 

  • Carry out the duties and responsibilities of the post at all times following the university’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the role.
  • Provide support to the HR management team to provide a comprehensive and professional service.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant human resources issues.
  • Ensure that HR Partners are kept informed of any issues that may impact HR operations.


Requirements:

  • 8 years of cognate experience in the HR field
  • Degree from a reputable institution
  • Professional HR certifications
