Weber Gallagher is currently seeking an experienced and strategic Human Resources Director to join our team and help us to continue to build a supportive and compliant work environment. The Human Resources Director plays a critical role at our firm by shaping our policies and strategies.
Job Related Functions
- Functions as a primary liaison between firm and practice group leadership, attorneys and staff and other members of the HR team.
- Serves as lead Talent Acquisition Partner for lateral attorneys and professional exempt staff.
- Identifies new opportunities where HR can add value including employee engagement and retention strategies, new hire integration efforts, strategic staffing plans and enhancing firm culture.
- Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to attorneys, supervisors and staff (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions, identifying performance gaps and addressing training needs). Effectively applies performance management to ensure that employees’ level of performance and capabilities meet current and future standards.
- Develops, revises and implements employee policies and procedures and answers nonroutine requests for information on policy interpretation.
- Develops methods and procedures for compiling and analyzing data and metrics for internal/external reports and special projects.
- Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations. Investigates complaints, makes recommendations and implements corrective action. Conducts disciplinary and/or termination meetings as needed. Engages firm employment counsel as necessary.
- Serves as a lead on the annual performance review process for assigned practice group(s)/department(s) by participating in meetings, reviewing evaluations, and working with leadership on compensation, adjustments, and performance issues.
- Liaises with other HR and Operations personnel to provide support as needed in areas such as leaves, benefits, HRIS implementation and augmentation, specific HR projects as well as participating in functional and cross-functional initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, combined with a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible human resources leadership experience, preferably with at least five (5) years in a law firm and/or professional services environment.
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communications skills.
- Confident manner and the ability to establish credibility quickly.
- Must maintain a current SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) credential or be able to obtain one within 12 months of hire.
