The HVAC Instructor is responsible for delivering theoretical and practical training on HVAC systems at ETIWA Tech. This role includes teaching various technical skills related to air conditioning systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of both residential and commercial units.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Training Delivery:
- Deliver training on HVAC systems including duct/cable tray installation, copper pipe brazing, and VRV systems installation.
- Facilitate practical sessions on cable pulling, duct installation, and duct-pipe insulation.
- Ensure trainees understand the safety protocols associated with HVAC equipment and procedures.
- Update and develop curriculum materials to reflect the latest industry standards and technology.
- Assess trainee performance through practical and theoretical exams and provide constructive feedback.
- Provide instruction on the use of CAD software such as AutoCAD, and others to create detailed HVAC layouts and models
Workshop Management:
- Maintain the training workshop, ensuring that tools, equipment, and materials are secure and in good working order.
- Schedule and conduct regular maintenance of machines and equipment as per the manufacturer's recommendations.
- Manage the procurement and efficient use of course materials, tools, and equipment.
- Responsible for the AC maintenance of the training facilities and hostel.
Curriculum Development:
- Collaborate with the Training Manager to update the HVAC course content on the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Integrate videos, weekly tests, and exams into the course curriculum to enhance learning outcomes.
Administrative Duties:
- Prepare and submit progress reports for each participant.
- Participate in the mentorship of new trainers, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Request and manage the inventory of training materials, stationery, and other necessary supplies.
Requirements;
- B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and a Trade Certificate e.g. Trade Test, NSQ, etc.
- Proven experience in HVAC installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, preferably At least 5-7 years working with HVAC and refrigeration systems, including cold rooms.
- Experience in both residential and commercial HVAC systems would be beneficial.
- Demonstrated experience in a training or instructional role would be a plus, showing the ability to transfer knowledge effectively.
- Certifications from the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Council for the Registration of COREN, and other bodies is an advantage.
Skills and Competencies:
- Deep knowledge of HVAC design, operation, and repair, with particular expertise in technologies such as VRV (Variable Refrigerant Volume) systems, copper pipe brazing, and safety protocols for handling refrigerant gases.
- Deep understanding of how refrigeration systems and cold rooms work.
- Good at regular checks and urgent repairs on refrigeration units to keep them running well.
- Can teach both basic and advanced refrigeration techniques clearly, ensuring trainees know how to work safely and effectively.
- Proficiency in using instructional tools and modern teaching methods to effectively deliver training content.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Experience in using modern technology to aid in training delivery.
Work Environment:
- This role requires standing for long periods and performing hands-on demonstrations in a workshop environment requiring frequent interaction with actual HVAC equipment.
- Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy AC materials and tools.
- Field visits to industrial and commercial sites to provide real-world exposure to trainees and for trainers to keep up to date with industrial standards.
