Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Part-Time Igbo Teacher to join our academic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Igbo language skills, including speaking, reading, and writing, to students at different learning levels. This part-time role involves creating engaging lesson plans, monitoring student progress, and promoting an appreciation for the Igbo language and culture.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Igbo language lessons, covering grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, and conversational skills.
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive lesson plans tailored to students’ proficiency levels.
  • Develop and administer assessments to evaluate student progress.
  • Foster an interactive and engaging classroom environment that encourages student participation.
  • Use multimedia resources and culturally relevant materials to make lessons more effective.
  • Provide personalized feedback and guidance to help students improve their language skills.
  • Introduce students to the Igbo culture, traditions, and values through discussions and creative activities.
  • Keep up with best practices in language education and adapt teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Collaborate with other staff to maintain high academic standards.
  • Keep accurate records of student performance, attendance, and participation.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a BSc. degree in Igbo, Linguistics, Education, or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience teaching the Igbo language in educational settings.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written Igbo.
  • Strong communication and teaching skills.
  • Ability to design effective lesson plans that cater to various student needs.
  • Familiarity with current teaching methods and digital teaching tools.
  • Passion for the Igbo language, culture, and the ability to incorporate cultural elements into lessons.
  • A teaching certificate is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Availability to work on a part-time basis with a flexible schedule.


Remuneration: NGN 60,000 - NGN 70,000
