Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Legal Advisory & Compliance:

  • Provide expert legal advice on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
  • Ensure the company operates within the legal framework of local, state, and federal laws.
  • Keep the organization updated on relevant legal changes and implications.


Contract Management:

  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure all contracts protect the company’s interests and comply with applicable laws.
  • Maintain accurate records of all legal documents.


Dispute Resolution & Litigation:

  • Manage and oversee any legal disputes, litigations, or claims involving the company.
  • Liaise with external legal counsel when necessary.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings as required.


Corporate & Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure adherence to all industry regulations and corporate policies.
  • Develop and implement policies that align with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits and training to ensure legal compliance across departments.


Risk Management:

  • Identify potential legal risks in business operations and propose solutions.
  • Develop strategies to mitigate exposure to legal liabilities.
  • Advise management on the legal implications of business decisions.



Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LL.B) and a call to the Nigerian Bar (B.L).
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-call experience, preferably in corporate or commercial law.
  • Proven experience in contract negotiation, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian business and labor laws.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and provide sound legal guidance.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
  • Fluency in a British or American accent is a MUST.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a corporate legal department or a reputable law firm.
  • Familiarity with finance is an added advantage.
