Job Summary

The Instrument Foreman supervises and coordinates the installation, maintenance, and calibration of instrumentation and control systems on industrial or construction sites. This role ensures all instrument works are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project specifications, engineering standards, and industry codes.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise daily activities of instrument technicians and fitters on-site.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), loop diagrams, and technical specifications.
  • Oversee the installation of instruments such as transmitters, sensors, control valves, and analyzers.
  • Ensure proper calibration and functionality of field instruments before commissioning.
  • Allocate tasks to the instrument crew and monitor progress to meet project deadlines.
  • Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and control teams for integrated system installation.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on completed instrument installations.
  • Maintain accurate records of installation, testing, and calibration activities.
  • Enforce compliance with all safety regulations and practices.
  • Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to junior instrument personnel.


Requirements:

  • Diploma or technical certification in Instrumentation, Electrical, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in instrumentation work, including supervisory roles.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical documents and drawings.
  • Familiarity with hazardous area classifications and installation standards (e.g., ATEX, IECEx).
  • Good leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Understanding of safety protocols in industrial environments (e.g., oil & gas, power plants).
  • Precommissioning experience


Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed on construction sites, process plants, or industrial facilities.
  • Exposure to loud noises, heights, and potentially hazardous materials.
  • Requires use of PPE and adherence to strict safety standards.
  • May involve shift work or extended hours depending on project schedule.
