OVERVIEW OF JOB
Provides mechanical engineering support throughout the construction lifecycle, ensuring quality and safety standards. Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement mechanical systems per project specifications. Oversees installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems, while conducting technical assessments and identifying risks. Ensures compliance with relevant codes and standards. Contributes to project budgeting and timelines and prepares detailed engineering reports for stakeholders.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides mechanical engineering support throughout the construction project lifecycle, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams, including civil, electrical, and process engineers, to design, plan, and implement mechanical systems in line with project specifications.
- Assists in developing and reviewing mechanical specifications, technical drawings, and engineering documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Oversees the installation, operation, and maintenance of mechanical systems within construction environments.
- Conducts technical assessments and provides recommendations for improvements in mechanical processes and systems.
- Identifies potential risks associated with mechanical systems and develops mitigation strategies to address them.
- Ensures compliance with local and international mechanical engineering codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Works closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
- Contributes to project budgeting, timelines, and resource planning as it relates to mechanical engineering.
- Conducts troubleshooting and diagnostics of mechanical systems to identify issues and implement effective solutions.
- Prepares and presents detailed engineering reports, technical assessments, risk management strategies, and system performance reports, along with technical documents and presentations, to stakeholders.
POSITION SPECIFICATION
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering is an advantage.
Work Experience:
- 5 - 10 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on construction projects.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, design principles, and construction practices.
- Experience in large-scale commercial or industrial construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, piping) and construction methodologies.
- Sound knowledge of relevant building codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., ASHRAE, ASME, API, ISO, NFPA, local codes).
- Proficient in the use of engineering software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, ANSYS, etc.).
- Strong project management skills and experience in leading teams.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations in the construction industry.
Professional Certification/Affiliations:
- Certifications in mechanical engineering or project management (e.g., PMP, CEng, PE) are an advantage.
