Job SummaryThe IT Manager in this restaurant-oriented role oversees all technology operations, ensuring efficient performance of systems critical to day-to-day restaurant functions. This includes managing POS systems, supporting inventory management technology, overseeing cybersecurity measures, and ensuring reliable network connectivity. The ideal candidate will implement technology solutions that enhance customer experience, streamline operations, and ensure compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities- Technology Infrastructure and Support
- Oversee, maintain, and troubleshoot the restaurant’s technology infrastructure, including POS systems, tablets, and ordering software.
- Manage internet and Wi-Fi network configurations to ensure secure and reliable connectivity for staff and guest areas.
- Implement and manage hardware upgrades and replacements, ensuring minimal disruption to restaurant operations.
- POS and Inventory Systems Management
- Configure, maintain, and update the Point-of-Sale (POS) system, ensuring that it meets operational and reporting needs.
- Oversee inventory management systems, providing support and training to ensure accurate stock tracking and order automation.
- Collaborate with the operations and finance teams to integrate POS and inventory data for real-time reporting and analysis.
- Cybersecurity and Data Protection
- Develop and implement cybersecurity measures to protect the restaurant’s data, including customer information and transaction records.
- Monitor network security, perform regular audits, and ensure compliance with data protection standards in the hospitality industry.
- Train staff on cybersecurity best practices and data handling procedures.
- Vendor and Software Management
- Manage relationships with technology vendors and service providers, ensuring optimal service and negotiating contracts as needed.
- Implement and oversee software solutions for reservations, online orders, and customer relationship management (CRM).
- Evaluate and recommend new technology solutions to enhance service delivery and customer experience.
- Team Training and Development
- Provide technical training and support to staff on POS, ordering tablets, and other restaurant technologies.
- Create user guides and conduct workshops to ensure staff is comfortable and proficient with all systems.
- Stay updated on new technology trends in the hospitality industry and recommend relevant upgrades to management.
- Troubleshooting and Emergency Support
- Serve as the primary point of contact for technology issues during operational hours, providing swift troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Implement contingency plans to handle system failures, ensuring continuous operation during technical disruptions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3+ years of IT management experience, preferably within the hospitality or restaurant industry.
- Proficiency with POS systems, inventory management software, and cybersecurity protocols.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with cloud-based systems and data analytics.
- Familiarity with CRM and customer data management systems.
- Certification in cybersecurity, network administration, or related areas is an advantage.
