Junior Mobile Web Developer

Responsibilities:

Maintenance & Improvement of Existing Apps 

• Bug fixing: Help identify and fix bugs to improve app reliability and user satisfaction. 
• Performance monitoring: Assist in identifying and resolving performance issues, such as slow load times or memory leaks. 
• Code optimization: Learn to refactor code for better structure, clarity, and scalability, guided by more experienced team members.  

Writing Clean & Documented Code:

• Best practices adherence: Write efficient, maintainable code following industry standards and internal guidelines. 
• Documentation habits: Learn to document functions, classes, and modules clearly for ease of collaboration and future updates. 
• Code consistency: Work within a shared codebase and contribute code that aligns with team conventions and architecture. 

UI/UX Collaboration:

• Interface implementation: Collaborate with designers to implement layouts, screens, and interactions that are both functional and visually appealing. 
• Feedback integration: Incorporate feedback from designers and users to enhance usability and user satisfaction. 
• Supervised development: Gain exposure to tools and techniques used to bring UI/UX designs to life in mobile environments.

API & Backend Integration Support:

• Integration basics: Assist in connecting the mobile app to backend services using APIs, handling data retrieval, submission, and error handling. 
• Data flow understanding: Learn how data moves between the frontend and backend, and how to handle various states (loading, success, error). 
• Security basics: Begin understanding basic security practices around API usage, like authentication and data validation. 

Testing & Debugging:

• Basic testing: Conduct initial rounds of unit, functional, and UI testing to ensure app stability and performance. 
• Debugging practice: Use debugging tools and logs to trace and fix issues, with guidance from mentors or senior developers. 
• Quality focus: Learn to test on multiple devices and screen sizes to ensure compatibility and consistency.  

Requirements: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. 
• Basic understanding of mobile application development for iOS and/or Android platforms.
• Familiarity with Swift (iOS) and Java/Kotlin (Android) 
• Exposure to cross-platform frameworks, e.g., React Native, Flutter, is a plus. 
• Basic understanding of mobile application development principles, design patterns, and best practices.
• Exposure to RESTful APIs and mobile application integration with backend services. 
• Familiarity with mobile UI/UX design principles and implementation.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Good problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills. 

Remuneration: NGN 250,000 - 350,000
