Job Summary
The position of Lecturer I in Accounting is suited for early-career academics with a Ph.D. or nearing completion, who have demonstrated competence in teaching, research, and scholarly engagement. The successful candidate will support curriculum delivery at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, contribute to research output, and engage in departmental development and professional practice.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Teach core undergraduate and selected postgraduate courses in Accounting, such as Principles of Accounting, Financial Accounting, Cost Accounting, and Auditing.
- Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars, and workshops using both traditional and technology-enhanced methods.
- Participate in curriculum development and course review aligned with national and international accounting standards (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, NUC).
- Ensure student assessments are rigorous, fair, and consistent with course learning outcomes.
- Participate in the development and administration of examinations and continuous assessments.
- Conduct research in accounting or related fields and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to departmental and faculty research objectives, including grant applications and collaborative research projects.
- Attend academic conferences and workshops to share research and expand professional networks.
- Begin to develop a personal research niche or specialization (e.g., Taxation, Public Sector Accounting, Corporate Governance, etc.).
- Supervise undergraduate student research projects.
- Assist in postgraduate teaching and co-supervise postgraduate dissertations under the guidance of senior faculty.
- Mentor students and provide academic guidance and career advice.
- Support student development programs such as accounting clubs, workshops, or ICAN/ACCA tutorials.
- Contribute to departmental activities, including committee work, course moderation, and student engagement.
- Participate in accreditation preparations and quality assurance processes.
- Support the organization of seminars, conferences, and departmental outreach programs.
- Actively contribute to internal academic meetings, boards, and academic planning exercises.
- Engage in outreach and networking with accounting professionals and firms to keep the curriculum industry-relevant.
- Participate in consultancy, training programs, or community development initiatives.
- Promote student internships and industry placements through professional linkages.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Accounting (or very close to completion) from an accredited university.
- Minimum of three (3) years of university teaching or professional training experience.
- Demonstrated record of at least two (2) scholarly publications in reputable journals.
- Proficiency in teaching with modern accounting tools (e.g., Excel, QuickBooks, Tally, Sage).
- Professional qualification (ICAN, ACCA, or ANAN) is highly desirable.
- Experience with online/blended learning and virtual teaching environments.
- Participation in curriculum design and/or program accreditation is an added advantage.
