Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and academically grounded individual to join the Department of Economics as Lecturer II. The successful candidate will support undergraduate teaching, contribute to research development, and participate in departmental and university service activities. Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver lectures and tutorials in undergraduate economics courses. 
  • Assist in the development and review of course materials and curriculum. 
  • Supervise undergraduate student projects and assignments. 
  • Engage in individual and collaborative research leading to publications in reputable  journals. 
  • Participate in departmental meetings, workshops, and academic planning. ∙ Contribute to community service and university outreach initiatives. 
  • Maintain active professional development and pursue further academic qualifications,  where necessary. 


Requirements: 

  • A Master’s degree in Economics or a closely related field from a recognized university. (A candidate with a completed Ph.D. will have an added advantage.) 
  • Evidence of academic potential, including conference papers, ongoing research, or  early-stage publications. 
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and teach undergraduate students. 
  • Strong interest in pursuing an academic career focused on teaching, research, and  service. 


Desirable Attributes: 

  • Enrollment in a Ph.D. program in Economics (or intention to begin one).
  • Familiarity with contemporary economic issues relevant to Nigeria and Africa.
  • Experience in using educational technologies or online teaching platforms.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit.


Remuneration: NGN 300,000
