Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough legal research on various cases, statutes, regulations, and legal precedents.
- Analyze legal documents, case law, and statutory materials to assist in case preparation and strategy.
- Stay updated on legal developments relevant to the firm’s practice areas.
- Prepare and draft legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, briefs, motions, and discovery requests.
- Assist with the preparation of legal opinions, memos, and client correspondence.
- Ensure that all legal documents comply with relevant laws and court requirements.
- Communicate with clients to gather information, provide updates, and discuss case developments.
- Maintain client relationships and act as a point of contact for inquiries or case status.
- Attend client meetings, taking notes and preparing summaries or action plans as needed.
- Assist senior attorneys with case strategy, planning, and litigation preparation.
- Organize case files, maintain detailed records, and track deadlines for filings, court dates, and legal proceedings.
- Participate in case reviews, preparing summaries of facts and legal issues for discussions with senior attorneys.
- Prepare for court hearings, including organizing evidence, exhibits, and witness statements.
- Draft motions and responses for court filings.
- Attend court hearings, depositions, or trials to support senior attorneys as needed.
- Assist in preparing for negotiations, including drafting settlement agreements or outlining negotiation strategies.
- Support attorneys in communicating with opposing counsel or parties to resolve disputes.
- Assist clients with regulatory compliance matters, ensuring adherence to laws and regulations in various industries.
- Help assess legal risks in business operations, offering solutions to mitigate potential legal issues.
- Assist with billing processes, including tracking billable hours, preparing invoices, and following up on client payments.
Qualifications:
Must be called to the Nigerian Bar
Minimum of 1 year experience in Litigation
Masters in Law is an added qualification
Proficiency in MS Word.
