Job Description/Requirements
Position: Legal Associate (Contracts and Advisory)
Location: Nigeria
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and managing legal documents such as contracts, agreements, and policies.
- Liaise with individual departments & divisions and provide advice on legal issues arising from contracts.
- Review and vet contracts and legal agreements including Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), Letters of Intent and other related documents.
- Research and proffer opinion on any legal inquiries or issues of a contractual nature arising out of the interpretation and application of contracts and agreements.
- Compile, proofread and revise drafts of legal documents and reports.
- Maintain and organize legal files, records, and documentation.
- Coordinate with external Legal Counsel on legal matters when required.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure timely submission of legal filings and compliance reports.
- Provide general administrative support, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and handling correspondence.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head, Legal Services.
Educational Qualifications
- Candidates should possess a University Degree in Law
- Minimum of three (3) years Post-Qualification as Lawyer.
- Postgraduate/professional qualification in a related field will be an added advantage.
- Experience as a Legal Associate in a financial service, or regulatory compliance environment will be an added advantage.
- Strong legal experience in corporate and commercial matters.
Experience, Skills & Competencies
- Proficiency in English in both communication and writing.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, corporate compliance, and notarization/apostille procedures.
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal formats.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
