Job Summary
The Livestock Technician will be responsible for the care, management, and monitoring of animals on farms or ranches. Your duties include feeding and watering livestock, maintaining animal health through routine checks and administering treatments, assisting with breeding and calving, and ensuring the proper conditions for animal housing.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Provide daily care for livestock, including feeding, watering, and monitoring general well-being.
- Ensure animals have access to a clean and safe environment.
- Conduct regular health checks on livestock to detect signs of illness or injury.
- Administer medications or vaccines as prescribed by veterinarians, and assist with medical treatments and care plans.
- Assist with breeding programs, including tracking reproductive cycles, managing breeding records, and supporting the mating process for optimal reproduction.
- Maintain detailed records on animal health, growth, breeding, vaccinations, and treatment history.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.
- Monitor and maintain animal housing, ensuring it meets the necessary hygiene, comfort, and safety standards.
- This may include cleaning barns, pens, and equipment.
- Collect data on livestock performance (e.g., growth rates, feed intake, production levels) to assist in monitoring productivity and supporting decisions for improvement.
- Operate and maintain equipment used for feeding, cleaning, or animal transport.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment as necessary.
- Assist in the management of feed supplies, monitor pasture conditions, and help with farm logistics as needed.
- Participate in tasks such as loading and unloading animals and preparing for livestock sales or transportation.
- Ensure all activities comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Assist with audits and inspections as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional vocational training or certification in animal science or a related field is preferred).
- Experience in animal care, farming, or a related industry is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of livestock management practices.
- Ability to identify and treat common livestock health issues.
- Comfortable working in outdoor environments and handling animals of various sizes and temperaments.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
