Livestock Technician

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular health checks, administer medications, vaccinations, and deworming, and maintain detailed health records for all animals to ensure early detection and treatment of illnesses.
• Plan and manage feeding schedules based on livestock needs, monitor feed consumption, adjust rations for productivity, and ensure feeding equipment is clean and functional.
• Assist with breeding programs, monitor and support birthing processes, maintain breeding and kidding records, and implement estrus detection and synchronization schedules.
• Maintain clean, ventilated housing, conduct inspections to address hazards, enforce biosecurity measures to prevent disease spread, and educate staff and visitors on compliance.
• Maintain comprehensive records of health, breeding, feeding, and production, and prepare regular reports on livestock performance and farm activities.

Requirements:

• HND in Animal Sciences or a related field is mandatory.
• A Degree in Veterinary Medicine is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in livestock management.
• Strong understanding of animal health, nutrition, and reproductive management.
• Proficient in record-keeping and reporting.
• Excellent communication and team collaboration skills.
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment.
• Passion for livestock care and a commitment to animal welfare.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
