Purpose of Position
We are seeking to engage a skilled UI/UX Engineer to join the Business Analysis team to ensure seamless user experience across the software products, platforms and devices.
The UI/UX Engineer will be responsible for crafting exceptional user experiences and interfaces for our web/application/mobile products. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and test intuitive, visually appealing, and user-cantered interfaces.
(S)he will be responsible for creating user-centered design solutions that meet customer needs and business goals including global digital standards.
(S)he will be responsible for developing intuitive visually appealing, and accessible interface, ensuring seamless user experience across all platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams and interfacing with end users to ascertain areas of improvement.
The UI/UX Engineer will report to the Senior Advisor Informatics. This is full-time position with a contract for 1 year, renewable subject to availability of funding.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for new features and products.
Develop and maintain design guidelines, standards, and best practices
Conduct user research, usability testing, and A/B testing to inform design decisions
Write clean, efficient, and well-documented HTML, CSS, and JavaScript code.
Implement responsive designs using CSS frameworks (e.g, Bootstrap, Tailwind)
Integrate UI components with back-end services using RESTful APIs
Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, and QA teams to ensure design and functionality alignment
Conduct design and code reviews to ensure quality and consistency
Participate in agile development methodologies (e.g., Scrum)
Ensure design and development consistency across platforms for uniform design elements, efficiency and maintain cohesive visual brand image
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design alignment.
Design responsive, mobile-first, and accessible interfaces
Ensure cross-browser compatibility and debugging.
Optimize front-end performance and accessibility.
Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and technologies.
Evaluate and recommend new design and development tools.
Maintain design documentation and style guides
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Design or similar field.
Minimum 5 years proven work experience UI/UX design and front-end development.
Portfolio showcasing your design and development work.
Experience with design systems and style guides.
Knowledge of back-end technologies (e.g., Node.js, Ruby on Rails).
Familiarity with testing frameworks e.g. selenium/cypress
Proficiency in:
HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+)
Front-end frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js)
CSS preprocessors (e.g., Sass, Less)
Design tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD)
Familiarity with:
UI/UX design principles and methodologies
Human-cantered design approaches
Accessibility guidelines (WCAG 2.1)
Version control systems (e.g., Git)
Advanced knowledge of software design and engineering.
Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process.
Experience working with popular operating systems including Windows and Linux.
Ability to collate data and compile test reports.
Strong attention to detail and design aesthetic.
Ability to coordinate and balance priorities of multiple projects and deliverables.
Experience in health digital standards will be an added advantage
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
