Medical Laboratory Scientist

• Collect samples from patients, including blood, urine, or other biological materials, following standardized procedures.
• Ensure that samples are collected safely, professionally, and with minimal discomfort to patients.
• Communicate clearly with patients, explaining the collection process and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
• Provide instructions for any patient-preparation needed before sample collection
• Properly label all samples with patient information, date, and time of collection, ensuring accuracy to avoid mix-ups.
• Accurately document sample details in the electronic medical records system and maintain proper documentation for sample transportation.
• Arrange the timely and safe transportation of collected samples to partner laboratories for testing.
• Ensure samples are transported within the required time frame to avoid deterioration and invalid results.
• Maintain open communication with laboratory personnel to ensure they receive samples promptly and without issues.
• Address any discrepancies or issues that may arise regarding sample integrity or labeling.
• Follow all safety guidelines and protocols when collecting and handling biological samples, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ensure compliance with healthcare and laboratory regulations, including patient privacy laws etc.
• Monitor and manage the inventory of sample collection materials (e.g., test tubes, swabs, needles) and ensure availability of supplies at all times.
• Ensure all sample collection equipment is properly maintained and sterile before use.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year experience as a medical lab scientist
• BSc. in Medical lab, Medicine
