Role Description

The Laboratory scientist will be responsible for  delivering of  high quality and standardized laboratory services at  CIMS Intl. Medical Services Lagos. The laboratory scientist  is  expected to undertake their tasks and responsibilities in an efficient and professional way in alignment with International best practice and Company Laboratory Standard Operating Policies and Procedures.

Qualifications

• Undertake all tests requiring attention as directed by requesting physician or scope specific client protocol.
• Ensure repeatable and reliable test outcomes.
• Timely and accurate reporting of result using approved company templates and platforms.
• Ensure Standard Operating Policies and Procedures are  up to date, accurate and in place

·        Ensure a quality control program (Internal and external) is in place to monitor and manage quality within the laboratory.

• Coordinate routine and interval equipment maintenance programme.
• Participate in clinical governance meetings.

·        Ensure ‘standard precautions’ are always maintained in the laboratory.

• Maintain a high degree of infection control principles in the laboratory
• Engage in continued Professional development programmes keeping abreast of  current trends in laboratory techniques and testing.
• Maintain stock control and inventory ensuring strict observation of expiry date.
• Ensure temperature sensitive reagents are stored within the required temperature range.
• Observe daily checklist and temperature monitoring.
• Provide laboratory utilization and test outcome statistics to support re-order cycle, epidemiology trend and future planning.
• Proactively raise service delivery related issues to line managers
• Coordinate and monitor quality of outsourced laboratory services.

• Relevant Medical laboratory Science qualification with Valid License to Practice by The Medical Laboratory Council of Nigeria. 2 to 5 years post NYSC. Must be Computer literate. Experience in an automated laboratory facility will be added advantage.
