Key Deliverables

Music Creation:

Score songs and musical pieces

Recreation of musical pieces

Music Accompaniment:

Play the instrument for all regular and special services of the church.

Serve as accompanist for choirs, ensembles and soloists in regular and special rehearsals and performances, as needed.

Play at weddings and other special events as requested

Music Planning:

Participate in regular schedules of rehearsals and trainings

Participate in planning song flows, and special music presentations.

Work with volunteer choir members as assigned

Perform other duties as necessary

Leadership:

Plan and give direction to a training program designed for developing instrumentalists in the church.

Coordinate admin and welfare related issues of the band

Provider coaching

Knowledge, Skills and Behavior
Educational Qualifications & Functional / Technical Skills

Understanding of music notation systems and vocabulary.

Understanding of the common elements of music (beat, rhythm, pitch, melody, harmony, texture, timbre/tone color, form), and expression (dynamics, style, tempo, phrasing) and their interaction through theory, form and analysis, composing, arranging, and performance.

Understanding of a variety of musical styles, literature of diverse cultural sources, and music of various historical periods.

Understanding of the skills and techniques necessary to play wind, string, and percussion instruments.

Understanding of the organization, training and placement of instrumentalists in an instrumental setting.

Knowledge of both traditional hymns and modern praise and worship material.

Multi-generational exposure to songs of the church - past, present, and future

Functional knowledge of audio editing

Relevant Experience

Experience of leading and developing individuals and teams within a music context providing motivation in order to enhance worship.

Experience of choral and orchestral music as well as working with bands and sound equipment.

Attitude and Behavioral Traits

A heart for the church and a growing relationship with Jesus Christ

Demonstration of Christian faith consistent with being a fully devoted follower of Jesus Christ

Passion, enthusiasm, creativity.

Ability to act on own initiative and to prioritize and manage own workload.

Up-to-date knowledge of music methods and materials (e.g. traditional & contemporary gospel, hymns, and praise & worship)

Excellent public communication and worship leading skills

Appropriate leadership qualities, e.g. motivational with the ability to help others reach their full potential; inspirational; team and people focused; ability to lead and train others to lead biblically based worship.

A sense of ownership: must take personal responsibility for the growth and success of every social media platform.

Excellent communication (written and oral)

Relates well to all kinds of people, builds effective relationships, and communicates effectively both interpersonally and corporately.
