Job Summary

An NDT Equipment Inspection Coordinator would be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections of equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety protocols, and maintaining accurate records. NDT inspectors utilize a variety of techniques to examine objects. They perform tests using methods such as ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, radiographic, and eddy current inspections. Inspectors determine the most appropriate technique based on the material, industry standards, and the nature of the potential defects.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee equipment inspection services, including crane inspections, elevator inspections, and other machinery evaluations.
  • Conduct Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) on equipment and machinery to evaluate their integrity and safety.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulatory requirements during all inspection activities.
  • Manage and coordinate inspection teams to ensure timely and efficient execution of inspection projects.
  • Produce detailed and accurate inspection reports, documenting findings, recommendations, and any identified issues.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their inspection needs and provide expert advice on equipment maintenance, safety, and compliance.
  • Review and interpret technical specifications and standards related to equipment inspection.
  • Work with the project management team to plan and schedule inspection activities.
  • Monitor equipment performance and assist in the identification of areas for improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members and share expertise in equipment inspection practices.
  • Attend regular training sessions and workshops to keep up with industry advancements and best practices.
  • Ensure all inspection equipment is calibrated and maintained in accordance with company standards.
  • Participate in internal and external audits to ensure compliance with all industry standards.

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in Petroleum, Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, pure science, or any engineering field.
  • Thorough knowledge of various kinds of software, organization, and time management. Proficient with computers and other standard office technology.
  • Superior organizational and communication skills.
  • Possess the ability to work productively, efficiently, and effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining attention to detail and quality.,
  • Multitask, Attention to detail, work under pressure
  • Related professional certifications with necessary medical certificates will be an added advantage
  • NDT Level II (RT, UT) is essential
  • NDT Level III (UT) and/or CSWIP 3.0 desirable
  • Other NDT Certifications
  • Health safety and environment HSE 1,2 &3
  • Project management
  • Federal Ministry of Labour Inspector Accreditation or Equivalent)
  • Minimum Industry Safety Training (MIST) certificates
  • Minimum of 4-5 years’ experience (with a strong preference for 3 years’ plus experience) as an NDT Equipment Inspection Coordinator or foreman in the conventional oil industry or a major international oil operator.
  • Possess the willingness to learn, improve, and adapt. Have a detailed understanding of mud engineering.
  • Strong understanding of various NDT methods, such as ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MPT), dye penetrant testing (DPT), and radiographic testing (RT). 
  • Familiarity with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations related to NDT and equipment inspection. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people, both verbally and in writing. 
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems related to NDT inspections and equipment. 
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. 
  • Proficiency in using NDT equipment and software. 
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and protocols related to NDT and equipment inspection. 
  • Proven Physical ability to lift 10-25 pounds and sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl repeatedly
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • Occasional walking to assist or meet with clients and colleagues at various locations.
  • Continuous clarity of vision at 20 inches or less for normal processing of work.
  • Repetitive use of hands such as grasping, twisting/turning of wrists, and finger dexterity necessary to perform various clerical duties such as typing, writing, and maintaining files.
  • Occasional use of arms such as pushing/pulling to open and close drawers and cabinets.
  • Occasional bending and/or reaching for supplies, etc., on both low and high shelves.
