Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain network equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN devices.
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Optimize network performance by monitoring, analyzing, and tuning network resources.
Troubleshooting & Support:
- Diagnose and resolve network problems (hardware or software) in a timely manner.
- Provide technical support for users experiencing network issues.
- Manage and resolve issues related to network connectivity, bandwidth usage, and related hardware/software problems.
Security Management:
- Implement and maintain network security protocols, such as firewalls, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS).
- Perform regular security assessments and vulnerability testing.
- Monitor network traffic for security breaches and other anomalies.
System Upgrades & Maintenance:
- Perform regular software and firmware updates for network devices.
- Manage backup and disaster recovery procedures for network configurations.
- Maintain network documentation, including topology maps, configuration files, and update logs.
Collaboration & Vendor Management:
- Work with vendors and third-party service providers to ensure timely delivery of services and products.
- Assist in designing network architecture and making recommendations for improvements.
- Collaborate with other IT staff and departments to coordinate network services and projects.
Capacity Planning & Expansion:
- Monitor and evaluate network performance to determine if the current infrastructure meets the organization's needs.
- Plan for network capacity expansion and future network needs.
- Manage upgrades to accommodate growth in network traffic and new technologies.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with network hardware (Cisco, Juniper).
- Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools (e.g., Wireshark, SolarWinds, Nagios).
- Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs, and security best practices.
